VARME NOW OFFER THE COMPLETE UNDERFLOOR HEATING RANGE

VARME NOW OFFER THE COMPLETE UNDERFLOOR HEATING RANGE

Varme has unveiled its new range of underfloor heating mats which are ideal for use in conservatories which notoriously suffer from large heat losses.

COMPLETE HEATING RANGE NOW AVAILABLE

Until recently, Varme’s smallest 200 watt cable mats were 5 square metres in size, but now they can supply from 1 sq. m. up to 10 sq. m. and every unit in between.  These mats are designed for heating floors that will be tiled with ceramics, stone, or marble and are equally at home when laid under laminate flooring, vinyl, and thin carpets.  The addition of these new cable mats means that Varme probably now has the biggest range of electric underfloor heating products and accessories in the UK.

IN-SCREED CABLE KITS ALSO AVAILABLE

For example, where mats are not suitable, Varme offers their new DVT 20 and DVT 30 cable and heating kit which can be laid either directly on top of the subfloor insulation board or between the concrete and the screed.  This means the builder/installer can invoice the client as soon as he has completed the build, leaving the floor to be completed at a later date.

COMPATIBLE WITH ALL FLOOR FINISHES

What’s more, this particular cable heating system is compatible with every type of floor finish so once it’s installed there is no concern as to which type is later specified.

HIGH SPEC, QUICK TO INSTALL

The twin conductor heating cables are just 6 mm diameter, easy to bend, double insulated and are available in 20 and 30 watt per linear meter specifications.  They come complete with digital thermostat and floor sensor.  The cable has a built-in return, meaning only one end needs connecting to the thermostat.

QUICK EASY MAT INSTALLATION

When it comes to using the cable mats these are installed by unwrapping the roll and laying it out across the subfloor.  The unrolled mat is self-adhesive and once pressed down into position it will not move.  Any irregular shaped areas, or sections of floor that cannot accommodate a full width of mat, can be heated by carefully removing the cable from part of the mesh matting, laying it loose on the floor and  fixing it in place with duct tape.

SCREED DIRECTLY OVER THE MATS TO FINISH THE JOB

A heating sensor is laid in place on the floor and the mat is connected by a wire to the room thermostat.  The mat is then covered with a levelling screed or, if tiles are being fixed, use of a flexible tile adhesive and grout is recommended.  In the case of vinyl or thin carpet, a 6 mm self levelling screed must be used to ensure efficient heat distribution through the floor.  Installation instructions for both the mats and the in-screed cables are available from the company.  These free instructions are designed to ensure installation is carried out as quickly and easily as possible.

ALTERNATIVE FOR WOOD AND LAMINATE FLOORING

Finally if the conservatory floor is going to be finished in wood, laminate, carpet or vinyl, Varme can also offer a special carbon film heating option.  Such a system will make the laminate or wood flooring seem warm to the foot as well as heating the conservatory throughout.

Installation is straightforward.  The existing concrete or timber floor is covered with 6 mm thick insulating underlay.  Next, the carbon heating mats are laid over the insulation board running connecting cables around the room perimeter.  The cables are connected to a special junction box and a programmable thermostat is connected to the heating system.  Finally a dielectric membrane is laid before the wood or laminate flooring.

Although this system does offer year round heating, in the case of conservatories where there is high heat loss the carbon film may need to be supplemented with another heating source during periods of extremely cold weather.  If this is not possible then the in-screed or cable mat option should be specified.

As with all Varme’s electric underfloor heating systems, key benefits include no maintenance or decorating (unlike radiators), no leaks to repair, fully controllable even heat, economical to run and completely invisible once installed.  As well as this, the company offers 10 year warranties on its underfloor heating systems.
